Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK)

What is Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK) ?

Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK) is a high-performance thermoplastic polymer developed for applications where other engineering plastics could not tolerate the combination of high temperature, mechanical loading and chemicals. We have both metric and imperial sized components for a multitude of applications.

Key Properties

PEEK is known for its exceptional chemical resistance, exceptional dimension stability (even at temperatures of 500ºF) and its excellent weight to strength ratio (specific gravity, 1.30). Unlike metals, it is corrosion resistant, lightweight and radiolucent.

Industries Benefiting from PEEK

  • Ultra-high Vacuum

PEEK’s low outgassing properties and high-temperature resistance make it particularly well suited for use in ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems. Under UHV conditions, it releases minimal gases and contaminants, making it one of the few polymers suitable for such demanding environments.

  • Aerospace

Aircrafts require components that are be light, but can still withstand heat, mechanical loads, vibration, chemicals and fire. PEEK is able to meet these requirements simultaneously.

  • RF Systems

RF systems require its components to have excellent electrical insulation, relatively low dielectric loss, and high thermal stability; all properties that PEEK pertains. Its ability to maintain dimensional and electrical performance under demanding temperatures and frequencies makes it particularly useful for insulating and supporting components in RF applications.

  • Semiconductor Manufacturing

PEEK is particularly well suited to semiconductor manufacturing due to its high purity, excellent chemical resistance, low outgassing, and thermal stability. Its wear resistance and dimensional stability also make it ideal for precision components operating in highly controlled, contamination-sensitive environments
